How Do I Use My Massage Wand?

Massage wands, or crystal healing wands, have long been traditional tools of healers and shamans.  They can be used many different ways: as a massage tool, for detecting aura blockages, in Reiki/Seichim, and in ceremonial Magick.  You can carry them with you, or display them with your collection of other crystals, or place them wherever your need feels most compelling.

The natural healing properties of crystals are imparted when used on or near your body.  Use your crystal wand to ease tension or pain anywhere in the body, and for treating and releasing trigger points.  The point can be used for directing energy toward the area that needs it most.

You can place the wand directly on the area to be massaged, either moving it in a circular motion over the area, or using it like a small "rolling pin."  Massage wands with a rounded end can be used for deeper, more directed work, but remember always to use gentle pressure.  Healing wands work best in direct contact with skin, but are also effective through clothing.

The wand can also be used for scanning someone's aura to detect blockages.  Hold it a few inches away, aiming the point of the wand toward the person.  Choose a starting point, and begin to move the wand slowly over the person's body, noting any areas that feel different.  Sometimes the wand may feel difficult to move, or may begin to vibrate.  Usually, this means it is detecting a blockage in the aura.  After you have finished scanning, go back and work on the blocked areas using your wand or any other healing crystals.

Cleansing and Programming Your Wand

If you wish, you may cleanse your crystal wand when you first receive it, or when you desire to reprogram it, or whenever else you feel it necessary.  To cleanse the wand, hold it in your hand, close your eyes, and chant three times out loud, "Begone, darkness; welcome, light."  You may need to repeat this more than three times, until you can sense that your crystal has been cleansed.

Quartz crystals, especially clear quartz, are also excellent for cleansing other crystals.  Hold the crystal to be cleansed near the quartz.  Judge the exact distance for yourself, by sensing when the cleansing energy of the quartz has enveloped your crystal.  If you wish, you can quietly chant, "Begone, darkness; welcome light" three or more times.

Once your crystal wand has been cleansed, you can also program it for specific purposes.  Hold the wand in your hand.  Close your eyes.  Visualize the purpose you wish to program your wand for.  Focus, breathing deeply, until the visualization is complete and all-encompassing.  Then softly say, "I dedicate this crystal to (whatever you wish its purpose to be)."

You can use these cleansing and programming methods for any of your crystals, not just for wands.

When using your wand, the most important rule is to be guided by your intuition, and not by what someone else says is right or wrong.  It is your personal wand, attuned to your unique strengths, desires, and energy.  No one knows your crystal better than you do.
